Women in Roofing: Working with Purpose – Featuring Nicki Brewster

Women in Roofing: Working with Purpose – Featuring Nicki Brewster

At She’s In Roofing, we believe that passion and purpose drive success. This week, we’re excited to feature Nicki Brewster, a powerhouse in roofing who brings heart and energy to everything she does.

Meet Nicki Brewster

Nicki Brewster is an experienced sales and business development manager with over five years in the roofing industry. As a Senior Area Sales Manager with Owens Corning Roofing, Nicki gets to do what she loves most—talk about all things roofing while building relationships with the best customers. Her passion for helping others, value selling, and networking with like-minded professionals keeps her motivated to do great work every day.

Originally from Chicago, Nicki has lived in Nashville, TN, for over six years with her husband, two dogs, and cat. She is an active member of National Women in Roofing (NWIR), NAWIC Nashville, and serves as the Brentwood Chapter leader of Women Connect. She finds positivity and passion wherever she goes, crediting her move to Nashville as one of the best decisions of her life—because it led her to the roofing industry.

Q&A with Nicki Brewster

1️⃣ What inspired you to pursue a career in roofing, and what keeps you passionate about it every day?

“Happenchance! When we first moved to TN after spending a few years in California, I was ready for a career change. I always enjoyed speaking to contractors at a previous job, so when a friend mentioned they knew of an opportunity with a roofing contractor, I thought… why not?

I knew roofing was my passion when I stepped out of the industry for a few years, but all I could still talk about was roofs! I love that roofing has deep roots and traditions, but also this incredible momentum of change. It keeps you on your toes while allowing you to become an expert when you really dig into it.”

2️⃣ How do you bring heart and purpose into the work you do?

“I absolutely love connecting with people. Whether it’s someone’s first day in the industry or they’ve been doing this their whole life, I want to hear their story. There is so much to learn in roofing and so many ways to help others.

When your work aligns with your purpose, it doesn’t feel like just a job—it becomes a mission. Working for an incredible company like Owens Corning, which is committed to excellence in the industry, also makes my work that much more fulfilling!”

3️⃣ What’s a moment in your career that reminded you why you love what you do?

“I’ll never forget walking into my first NWIR meeting after rejoining the industry. I saw so many new faces (yes, go ladies!!), and to be honest, I was a little nervous since I had just started a new job. But it didn’t take long for me to feel right at home when the conversations started. The energy in the room was contagious, and I was reminded why I love what I do.

Moments like these continue to happen—whether it’s helping a customer better understand our products or working through a challenge to find a solution. Every day in this industry reminds me why I’m here.”

4️⃣ What advice would you give to other women looking to find joy and fulfillment in their careers?

“Make the leap of faith and trust yourself. You can do whatever your heart is set on. Finding joy in this world can seem tough, but surround yourself with people who inspire you—including yourself! Keep pivoting and embracing change until you find your true passion. It’s out there waiting for you!

5️⃣ How has embracing your passion and purpose empowered you to uplift others in the industry?

“This job is rewarding in so many ways, but the most fulfilling part is the relationships and connections I’ve built along the way. The amount of support from my organization and others in the industry makes me feel unstoppable.

With that momentum, I make it a priority to help others find their purpose and know they belong here. Sales can be a tough industry, and we all experience its challenges. But when I see the ‘light bulb moment’ happen for someone—whether through a piece of advice I gave or a solution we worked on together—it keeps me excited about what I do.

Being part of groups like NWIR and Women Connect has been amazing because the wisdom and encouragement are endless. Lifting others up is the most rewarding part of my career.

She founded Sips and Solutions and Ladies of the Trades – Hampton Roads, initiatives designed to foster professional connections and empower others. She is also an active member of National Women in Roofing, furthering her mission to champion women in the trades.

Q&A with Rachel Leveron

1️⃣ What inspired you to pursue a career in roofing, and what keeps you passionate about it every day?

“I didn’t plan on a career in roofing, but looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way! What keeps me here? The relationships, the strategy, and the real, tangible impact. Roofing isn’t just about materials—it’s about problem-solving, trust-building, and supporting businesses in ways that truly matter. The camaraderie in this industry is unmatched, and the opportunities? Endless. Roofing isn’t just a job; it’s a challenge, a community, and a place where hard work pays off. And for someone with a growth mindset—that’s exactly where I want to be!”

2️⃣ How do you bring heart and purpose into the work you do?

“Bringing heart and purpose into my work comes down to three things: how I show up, the mindset I bring, and the impact I make. I’m all about asking, ‘How can I help?’—because when you genuinely care about others’ success, you go beyond hitting targets and start making a real difference. I see myself as a partner, not just a provider. I invest in people, keep growing, and stay true to my values every single day. That’s what makes the work meaningful!”

3️⃣ What’s a moment in your career that reminded you why you love what you do?

“Everyone told me a certain partnership was impossible—‘They’re not interested. Don’t waste your time.’ But I saw the potential. Instead of giving up, I put in the time, listened, and showed them how we could bring real value. It didn’t happen overnight, but that door finally opened—not just for a deal, but for a lasting relationship. That moment reminded me why I love what I do: seeing opportunities where others don’t, proving what’s possible, and turning ‘no way’ into ‘look at us now!’”

4️⃣ What advice would you give to other women looking to find joy and fulfillment in their careers?

“My advice? Pave your own path. Invest in relationships. Never let anyone else define your limits. Success looks different for everyone—find what matters to you and go after it. And don’t go at it alone! Build a strong network of mentors and peers who push you to grow. That’s why I started Ladies of the Trades – Hampton Roads—because support and community make all the difference. Go for the opportunity, even if you don’t check every box. Growth happens when you bet on yourself!”

5️⃣ How has embracing your passion and purpose empowered you to uplift others in the industry?

“The most rewarding part of my career? Helping others win. Whether it’s through Sips and SolutionsLadies of the Trades, or just being a resource, I know that investing in others creates a ripple effect. When we support each other, the whole industry gets stronger. I’ve seen firsthand that persistence, strategy, and genuine connections always pay off. Leadership isn’t about titles; it’s about impact. And the best part? Watching those I’ve supported go on to achieve incredible things. That’s what keeps me fired up every single day!”

“Guaranteed to be a conversation starter!”

In the traditionally male-dominated field of roofing, “She’s In Roofing” is not just a brand; it’s a movement that’s transforming the industry. Beyond mastering the complexities of roofing, the women of “She’s In Roofing” have discovered a unique way to empower themselves and others through POW notes – Positive Outspoken Words. These notes, designed as conversation-starting stickers, are becoming powerful symbols of empowerment within and beyond the construction site.

The Power of Positive Outspoken Words (POW)

1. Empowering the Mindset:

At the heart of “She’s In Roofing” is a commitment to transforming mindsets. POW notes are more than just affirmations; they are daily reminders of strength, resilience, and the boundless potential within each woman. By fostering a positive internal dialogue, these notes empower women to tackle challenges head-on.

2. Building a Supportive Community:

In a profession where mutual support is essential, POW notes play a crucial role in building a culture of encouragement. Women openly express positive words about their colleagues, creating a tight-knit community that transcends gender stereotypes. These notes aren’t just about personal empowerment; they’re about lifting each other up.

POW Notes: More Than Stickers

1. Guaranteed Conversation Starters:

The POW notes aren’t just stickers; they’re conversation starters. Slap them on laptops, tumblers, or anywhere visible, and you’re bound to spark a conversation about empowerment, breaking barriers, and the incredible work happening at “She’s In Roofing.”

2. Spreading Empowerment Beyond Roofing:

The power of these notes extends beyond the construction site. By giving out POW note stickers, the women of “She’s In Roofing” are spreading empowerment to new places. These stickers become symbols of solidarity and encouragement, challenging stereotypes and inspiring women in various fields.

Empowering Others, One Sticker at a Time

1. On Laptops:

Imagine the impact of seeing a POW note on a laptop during a business meeting. It’s a statement – a declaration of strength and capability. It encourages women to embrace their roles and challenge preconceived notions.

2. On Tumblers:

Slapping a POW note on a tumbler isn’t just about personal empowerment; it’s a signal to the world that the woman carrying it is part of a movement. It’s a conversation starter that can lead to discussions about breaking barriers and inspiring change.

3. Giving Out to Empower:

Handing out POW note stickers is a gesture of empowerment. It’s a tangible way to share positivity and encouragement. These stickers become more than just adhesive; they become symbols of a shared journey towards empowerment.

It’s POWerful Thing!

“She’s In Roofing” is rewriting the narrative in the roofing industry. Through the power of Positive Outspoken Words, these women are not only empowering themselves but also creating a ripple effect of inspiration. The POW note stickers are not just decals; they are symbols of a movement that challenges norms, fosters a supportive community, and empowers women to break through ceilings. As these stickers find their way onto laptops and tumblers, they carry with them a message – a message of strength, resilience, and the unwavering power to empower. The women of “She’s In Roofing” are not just installing roofs; they are building a legacy of empowerment, one POW note at a time.
